Candidates must have completed F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering) or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. A minimum of 60% marks in the HSSC or equivalent is typically required. Students appearing in their final HSSC exam are also eligible to appear for ECAT. The test is mandatory for admission to all engineering universities in Punjab, Pakistan.
What is the ECAT exam pattern?
ECAT is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) test of 100 questions to be attempted in 1 hour and 45 minutes. The distribution is: Chemistry (30 MCQs), Physics (30 MCQs), Mathematics (30 MCQs), and English/General Knowledge (10 MCQs). Each correct answer carries 4 marks; there is no negative marking in ECAT. The test is conducted computer-based (CBT) at designated test centres across Pakistan.
How is the ECAT merit calculated?
The ECAT merit is calculated as: ECAT Score (50%) + HSSC/F.Sc. Aggregate (40%) + Interview (10%) or as per the latest policy of the respective university.
