LAT (Law Admission Test) is a standardised entrance exam required for admission to LLB (Bachelor of Law) programmes at universities in Pakistan — particularly for Punjab University and other major law schools. It tests analytical reasoning, legal aptitude, English comprehension, and general knowledge. A valid LAT score is a mandatory requirement before applying to most Pakistani universities for a 5-year LLB programme.
What is the LAT exam pattern?
LAT consists of five sections with 100 MCQs total, to be attempted in 2 hours: English (vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, 25 MCQs), Analytical Reasoning (25 MCQs), Legal Aptitude (25 MCQs), Pakistan Studies & Islamic Studies (15 MCQs), and General Knowledge/Current Affairs (10 MCQs). There is no negative marking. The passing score is typically 50% for general candidates, though individual universities may set higher thresholds.
