What is HAT-UG and how is it used?
HAT-UG (HEC Admission Test – Undergraduate) is conducted by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for admission to undergraduate programmes at HEC-recognised universities. It assesses a candidate's readiness for university-level study through four sections: English, Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Subject Knowledge. It is accepted by most Pakistani universities as an alternative to individual university entrance exams.
What is the HAT-UG exam pattern?
HAT-UG consists of approximately 100 MCQs divided across four sections: English (25 MCQs, grammar and reading comprehension), Analytical Reasoning (25 MCQs), Quantitative Reasoning (25 MCQs), and Subject Knowledge (25 MCQs related to the candidate's intermediate stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts). The total duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is no negative marking in HAT-UG. The test is conducted online (CBT) at designated centres across Pakistan.
