Frequently Asked Questions — SPSC (Sindh)

Everything you need to know about SPSC (Sindh). Scroll down for the complete study guide.

When does SPSC typically release its 2026 syllabus PDFs and where can candidates download the post-wise scheme officially?
SPSC publishes post-wise syllabi as PDF notifications under the "Syllabus" tab on its official portal, usually released alongside or shortly after each job advertisement. For 2026 recruitment cycles, candidates should monitor the Notifications section weekly, because schemes for posts like Assistant (BS-16), Lecturer (BS-17), and CSS competitive exams are uploaded as separate PDFs. Download the latest version dated 2026 only, since older schemes carry superseded paper patterns. Save the PDF, print it, and cross-check the subject list against the advertisement's "Syllabus & Examination Scheme" annexure before starting preparation. Source: spsc.gos.pk
What is the 2026 SPSC written exam pattern and marking scheme for BS-16 and BS-17 posts?
For BS-16 posts, SPSC generally conducts a screening MCQ test of 100 marks (one mark each, no negative marking specified in most 2025-26 schemes) followed by a descriptive written exam of 100 marks for shortlisted candidates. BS-17 posts typically combine a 100-mark MCQ screening with a 150-mark subjective written examination and a 50-mark viva voce, making the total 300 marks. Duration is usually 3 hours for the subjective paper. Always verify the exact split inside your specific advertisement, because SPSC revises schemes per post. Source: spsc.gos.pk
What is the minimum qualifying percentage for SPSC written exams and interview in the 2026 cycle?
SPSC's standard qualifying threshold is 50% marks in the written examination (MCQ + descriptive combined) for general-category candidates. For interview/viva voce, candidates must separately secure at least 40% to be considered for merit compilation. Reserved-seat candidates from Sindh's scheduled castes, Buddhist community, and special-persons quota receive a 5-mark grace relaxation per SPSC rules gazetted under the Sindh Public Service Commission (Functions) Rules. Final merit lists are prepared only from candidates clearing both individual cutoffs, not merely on aggregate. Source: spsc.gos.pk
What is the 2026 application fee structure for SPSC posts, and what is the deadline consequence for late submission?
The 2026 SPSC application fee is Rs. 500/- for a single post, with a separate processing fee of Rs. 200/- per additional post applied for through the same portal, payable only via the 1Bill/1Link online channels listed on spsc.gos.pk. Applications submitted after the closing date mentioned in the advertisement are auto-rejected; no manual extensions are granted. Fee once deposited is non-refundable and non-transferable. Keep the transaction ID (TRX) screenshot safely, as it is required for downloading roll-number slips. Source: spsc.gos.pk
Which subjects carry the highest weightage in the SPSC Syllabus 2026 for competitive (CSS-equivalent) posts, and how should candidates allocate study time?
For provincial management service (PMS) and BS-17 competitive posts, the highest weightage papers are English Essay & Composition (100 marks), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (100 marks), Pakistan Affairs (100 marks), and Everyday Science (100 marks) — together accounting for nearly 40% of the 1,200-mark written merit. Subject-specific optionals (e.g., Public Administration, Sociology, Economics) carry 200 marks each. Allocate roughly 60% of weekly study hours to these four core papers and 40% to your optional, prioritizing past SPSC papers from the last five years published on the portal. Source: spsc.gos.pk
