Topic 13 – Subject Knowledge (Pengetahuan Bidang Studi) tests your command of academic substance specific to the study cluster you chose on SIMAK UI: Saintek, Soshum, or Humaniora. The subtest contributes only 3% of the total score, but it is scored independently from the verbal, quantitative, and Bahasa Indonesia sections.

  • Mapping rule: choose the soal paket that matches your intended Kelompok Ujian — mismatching the cluster invalidates your answers.
  • Curriculum basis: content draws from Kurikulum Merdeka SMA/SMK/MA Capaian Pembelajaran (CP) for grades 10–12, not the legacy UN syllabus.
  • Question style: literasi akademik passages with applied concepts — no rote recall traps.

What Topic 13 actually measures

SIMAK UI splits its paper into independent components, and Topic 13 is the component that checks whether a candidate can read an academic-style stimulus and apply discipline-specific vocabulary correctly. For a Saintek candidate this means biology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics reasoning applied to a short passage; for Soshum it means economics, sociology, geography, or history interpretation; for Humaniora it means philosophy, literature, or cultural studies argumentation.

Why the 3% weight still matters

The total SIMAK UI paper runs around 60–100 items depending on the year and program. A 3% slice on a paper of 80 questions equals roughly two to three items. On competitive programs such as FK, FT, FH, or Akuntansi where the rank difference between the last admitted and the first rejected candidate is one or two points, surrendering free items from Topic 13 directly costs a seat.

Standard problem patterns

Most items present a 3–6 sentence passage, then ask you to identify a konsep, infer a konsekuensi logis, or select the istilah that best fills a blank. The trap is vocabulary that looks familiar but belongs to the wrong cluster — for example, “inflasi” appearing in a Saintek paket where only physics/biology terms are scored.

Curriculum anchoring and Kompetensi Dasar

Each cluster on Topic 13 maps to a defined set of Kompetensi Dasar (KD) within Kurikulum Merdeka. Saintek items lean on KD that emphasize penerapan konsep rather than perhitungan berulang; Soshum items emphasize interpretasi data (tables, short infographics) rather than date recall; Humaniora items emphasize argumen teks rather than author biography. Knowing which KD feeds which item lets you eliminate distractors that drift outside the CP scope.

Edge cases and traps

The most common miss is cluster mismatch: candidates who pick Soshum paket but applied to a Saintek program auto-fail this section regardless of how well they answer. The second is assumption carry-over from UTUL UGM or SNBT — Topic 13 is not penalaran umum, so you cannot solve it with logic alone; you must know the term. The third is timing: under pressure, students skip Topic 13 expecting it to be “easy”, then misread the academic passage and lose points that were obtainable by elimination.

Connection to adjacent topics

Topic 13 sits alongside TPA (Topics 1–8), Bahasa Indonesia (Topics 9–11), and Bahasa Inggris (Topic 12). Strong readers outperform on Topic 13 even with average content knowledge, because the question stem is passage-based — improving your skim-and-locate speed on Topic 12 directly raises your Topic 13 ceiling.

  1. A Saintek passage describes enzyme activity changing with substrate concentration. Which term — denaturation, Michaelis-Menten, osmosis, entropy — fills the blank asking for the kinetic model name?
  2. A Soshum passage shows a 2024 BPS inflation table and asks which kebijakan fiskal response is kontradiktif with the data trend.
