What is TS-EAMCET and who is it for?
TS-EAMCET (Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) is conducted by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) for admission to undergraduate professional programmes in Telangana state. It is a mandatory exam for admission to B.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Sc (Agriculture), and other professional courses in government and private colleges across Telangana. TS-EAMCET is specifically for students who have completed their Intermediate (Class 12) education in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh — it is the Telangana state-level equivalent of AP-EAMCET, with which it was combined before Telangana's formation in 2014. Only students belonging to Telangana are eligible for the convenor quota (70% of seats); the remaining 30% falls under management quota.
What is the TS-EAMCET exam pattern?
TS-EAMCET consists of 160 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 3 hours (180 minutes). The exam is conducted separately for two streams: Engineering (E) stream: Physics (40 questions), Chemistry (40 questions), Mathematics (80 questions). Agriculture & Medical (AM) stream: Physics (40 questions), Chemistry (40 questions), Botany (40 questions), Zoology (40 questions). Each correct answer carries 1 mark; there is no negative marking. The exam is conducted online (CBT) at designated centres in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The syllabus is based on the Telangana Board Class 11-12 curriculum.
How does TS-EAMCET counselling and admission work?
TS-EAMCET scores are processed through a centralised counselling called TS-Counselling (convenor seat allocation). The rank list is prepared based on the TS-EAMCET score. Seats are allocated in three categories: Convenor Quota (70% of seats) — only for Telangana students, allocated based on rank and preferences. Management Quota (30%) — open to all eligible candidates. College-wise Spot Admissions fill remaining vacant seats after regular counselling. Top colleges through TS-EAMCET include: JNTU Hyderabad (best government college), Osmania University College of Engineering, University College of Engineering (Autonomous), and VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering. For Computer Science at JNTU Hyderabad, a rank within 1,000 (GM category) is typically required.
