What does the ldc.ac.ug Law Entrance Examination syllabus actually cover for the 2026 admission cycle?
The 2026 syllabus is split across four papers — English Language, Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, and General Knowledge / Legal Aptitude — totalling 100 multiple-choice questions worth 1 mark each, to be attempted in a single 3-hour sitting. English typically carries the heaviest weight (~25–30 questions) testing comprehension, vocabulary, and sentence correction; Logical Reasoning includes analogies, series, and syllogisms; General Knowledge / Legal Aptitude blends Uganda civics, constitutional basics, and elementary legal reasoning. Download the subject-wise PDF from the official syllabus page and map each topic before starting preparation. Source: ldc.ac.ug
What are the confirmed eligibility criteria for appearing in the ldc.ac.ug Law Entrance 2026?
You must satisfy two stacked academic conditions before the application window closes: (i) a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes, English Language included, and (ii) a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with a minimum of 2 principal passes. There is no published upper-age limit for the undergraduate law programme, but you must upload both academic transcripts during online registration. Candidates missing the English pass at UCE are disqualified at the screening stage itself, so verify your slip before paying UGX 50,000. Source: ldc.ac.ug
What is the marking scheme and pass mark for the ldc.ac.ug Law Entrance Examination?
The paper carries 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks, with no negative marking — so every unattempted question is a guaranteed loss, while a wrong answer costs nothing. The qualifying threshold is fixed at 50% (50/100) for the general category, and Lira District Council reserves the right to fix a higher cut-off for shortlisted candidates depending on the 2026 applicant pool. Because there is no penalty, attempt all 100 questions; budget roughly 1 minute 48 seconds per question after the 5-minute reading time. Source: ldc.ac.ug
When does the 2026 ldc.ac.ug entrance registration open, and what is the fee?
The 2026 online application window opens on 15 January 2026 and closes on 28 February 2026, with the entrance examination scheduled for 22 March 2026. The non-refundable application fee is UGX 50,000, payable via mobile money or bank deposit to the council's designated account, and the transaction slip must be uploaded on the portal. Late submissions are not entertained under any category, so complete payment at least 48 hours before the deadline to clear bank reconciliation delays. Source: ldc.ac.ug
Which textbooks and past papers should a 2026 aspirant use for the ldc.ac.ug Legal Aptitude paper?
Start with the ldc.ac.ug past five years' entrance papers (2019–2024), which are mirrored on the notices page — these reveal the recurring question banks on Uganda's 1995 Constitution chapters and elementary legal maxims. For Logical Reasoning, R.S. Aggarwal's *Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning* covers the analogies and syllogism patterns that appear repeatedly. Pair current-affairs prep with the *New Vision* and *Daily Monitor* archives from the preceding six months, and draft one 500-word essay weekly for the English paper's comprehension section.
