What is AP EAPCET and who should appear?
AP EAPCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture & Pharmacy Common Entrance Test) is a state-level exam conducted by APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education) for admission to undergraduate engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy programmes in colleges across Andhra Pradesh. It is specifically for students who have completed their intermediate education (Class 12) under the BIEAP (Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh) or equivalent — students from other state boards are generally not eligible unless they meet specific NRI or category criteria.
What is the AP EAPCET exam pattern?
AP EAPCET (Engineering) consists of 160 multiple-choice questions: Physics (40 questions), Chemistry (40 questions), and Mathematics (80 questions). Each question carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking. The exam is conducted online (CBT) over 3 hours. The questions are based on the BIEAP Class 12 syllabus. For Agriculture & Pharmacy streams, the pattern differs slightly (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology). Students from the MPC stream attempt the engineering paper; BiPC stream students attempt the agriculture/pharmacy paper.
How is AP EAPCET rank used for engineering admission?
AP EAPCET scores are used for the Convener quota (70% of seats in AP engineering colleges) — the remaining 30% falls under the Management Quota. The rank is calculated based on the normalised EAPCET score. Top ranks (under 1,000) can get admission into top colleges like IIIT Sri City, VRS College, or government colleges. For autonomous colleges and top private institutions, a rank within 10,000 is generally competitive. A special integrated counselling process is used for seat allocation across all colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Students also need to meet the 45% aggregate requirement in PCM for eligibility.
